Health & Wellbeing

Wellbeing Services

The wellbeing team is led by Rachel Caine. It is a collaborative team consisting of counsellors and youth workers. The team endeavours to support the physical, mental and emotional wellbeing of all learners and is aware that this is also a crucial part of the learning process. If a learner’s mind and emotions are not in a calm state, then learning will simply not happen.

The team is experienced in working with outside agencies to further support the wellbeing of learners.

Our Services

Te Kaha o Roto – Building Inner Strength

The team is experienced in counselling, advocacy, restorative conversations and mentoring. These services are available for learners, whaanau and associated community members during school hours.

Confidentiality

Anything said to a member of the wellbeing team stays between them and the learner/whaanau they are working with. There are, however, some exceptions:

  • If a learner is a harm to themselves or to others, or if they are in danger themselves then this information has to be shared with a third party and the risk addressed. This is non-negotiable.
  • If a counsellor is seeking legal, ethical or peer advice on a difficult issue they may need to explain the situation to a third party to ensure there is an appropriate level of response, action and safety for client and counsellor. Permission will be asked for in this case.
