The Arts

Here in the Arts at Alfriston College, we strive to give learners authentic opportunities to participate in extracurricular activities.

Learners excel in the Arts at Alfriston College. Learners’ skills and passions are nurtured by a skilled team of Learning Leaders, many of whom are also practising artists in their fields.

Learners experience the arts through Flight and Pod classes in the Junior School, through semester and year long classes in the senior school and through co-curricular activities.

Of note is recent success in:

Dance – Blueprint Dance Competition, College Dance Crew Championship, Hip Hip International NZ Nationals

Music – Smokefree Tangata Beats national finalists and national category winners.

Public Speaking – Counties Manukau and Auckland Secondary Schools’ debating competitions, ‘Word – the Front Line’ spoken word finalists.

Visual Art – Kate Edger Foundation School Creative Competition, Auckland Library’s Rangatahi Writing Te Ao Zine, Rangatahi South Exhibition.

Writing – Auckland Library’s Rangatahi Writing Te Ao Zine, New Zealand Book Awards for Children and Young Adults Review Writing.

A showcase is held annually in the John Locke Theatre for the community to appreciate learners’ work and talents.

The Arts team is led by Ms Jennifer Narit.
